NATURAL FINISHES
By default everything is made from mild steel (although I can cut any type of metal on request - copper, stainless steel, brass....). Over time, if not protected by a rust inhibitor, mild steel will take on moisture from the environment and beautifully rust creating a unique patina.
How to stop rust
At home, I use STA-BIL rust inhibitor spray if I want rust free metal work. It is extremely easy to apply. Also I hear good things about both beeswax and linseed oil.
How to rust fast!
Nature and time will do the job for you! However if you want to accelerate the process then a few squirts of white vinegar for a few days running will produce amazing results. Once I am happy with the look, I like to seal what is there with a spray of Plastikote Clear Sealer or similar.

POWDER COATED FINISHES
Powder Coating is a dry finishing process created by an electric charge that causes a dry powder to fuse to the surface of the metal. This is then baked in a curing oven to achieve a smooth and very tough coating. It will not protect your item forever but for a good few years. I send your art to the professionals to have it powder coated. They offer an enormous amount of colour options - see RAL colour chart below.
